940,544. Laminates. H. ROYLES. Feb. 22, 1962 [Feb. 28, 1961], No. 7200/61. Heading B5N. [Also in Division F2] A metal tank, particularly a tank used for electroplating, has, secured in direct contact with its sides, thermal insulation material comprising blocks of foamed plastics material, e.g. foamed polyurethane, or a single such block extending around all sides of the tank, the block or blocks having a covering layer of acid- and alkali-resistant synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride. In one form blocks of foam material are secured by adhesive to a sheet of P.V.C. so as to leave narrow margins at the top and bottom edges of the sheet and a wider margin on one side; the sheet so made is wrapped around the sides of a rectangular tank having a top flange, the upper and lower margins being tucked in beneath the flange and allowed to hang down below the tank respectively, and the side margin being used as a flap to secure the ends of the sheet together adhesively. In another form, the P.V.C. sheet 16, Fig. 4, carrying the blocks 13, is looped at its upper edge to form a pocket 17 containing a spring wire used to hold the sheet beneath the flange 11 of the tank 10. A similar pocket and wire may be provided at the lower edge of the sheet. The lateral edges of the sheet are secured together by a hook fastener 19, 20 and by eyelets 21 threaded with plastics-covered lacing 22, The lacing may be covered with a flap 23. The adhesive used may be an epoxide, a phenolic, or a polyurethane, polyamide, or polyvinyl resin, or the material sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Evostik".
