Abstract

917,718. Grease guns. SUNDHOLM. E. P. Sept. 2, 1959 [Jan. 8, 1959], No. 29969/59. Class 102(1) and 102(2). [Also in Group XXVI] A grease gun reservoir 10 having a plunger 13 is adapted to be filled directly with grease or to receive a grease filled cartridge 14, and the plunger 13 is sufficiently resilient to engage either of the two diameters. The reservoir 10 has a portion 37 which supports the cartridge 14 and contracts the plunger 13 on being withdrawn by the handle 25 (see Fig. 6) so that it will enter the cartridge on return. The plunger is provided with ears 30, 31 which engage in slots 32, 33 in the end cap 11 to retain the plunger in the withdrawn position. The plunger is loaded by a double spring arrangement comprising springs 16a, 16b connected by a sleeve 16c. The end of the reservoir secured to the pump 38 has an inlet and grease may be pumped or drawn into the reservoir therethrough.
