Abstract

917,132. Differential gear. SVENSKA AEROPLAN A.B. March 23, 1959 [Oct. 3, 1958], No. 10028/59. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXII] Differential gearing comprises a one-piece housing 1 having an internal curved machined surface which supports bevel planet pinions 15 and bevel sun gears 9 against axial movement, the housing having apertures large enough to admit the pinions &c. In the form shown, the internal surface of the housing 1 is spherical and the rear surfaces of the bevel gears and pinions 9, 15 are frusto-spherical, but alternatively the inside surface of the housing may be formed with a surface having two different centres of curvatures, or surfaces of frustoellipsoidal cross-section, co-operating with frusto-spherically rear surfaced pinions and gears. The bevel planet pinions 15 are mounted upon a transverse pin 17 retained within the housing 1 by the projecting ends of studs 5 securing a crown wheel 6 to the housing. Nuts 12 hold the sun gears 9 upon keyways 11 at the ends of driven shafts 7, 8.
