Abstract
922,005. Toothed gearing. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. March 17, 1960 [March 5, 1959], No. 7724/59. Class 80 (1). A high reduction gear comprises a pinion 11, Fig. 4, secured to a driving shaft 12 and meshing on opposite sides with contrate wheels 13, 14 which are integral with bevel sun gears 17, 18 meshing with bevel planet gears 19 mounted in a carrier 20 secured to an output shaft 15. The contrate wheels 13, 14 have slightly different numbers of teeth so that the sun gears 17, 18 are rotated in opposite directions at slightly different angular speeds. In a modification, the shaft 15, Fig. 2, carries a worm 21 which meshes with a worm-wheel 22 on an output shaft 23. In a further modification, the shaft 15 carries a pinion 24, Fig. 3, which meshes with contrate wheels 25, 26 of a similar epicyclic gear 27, 28, 29 having an output shaft 32. Preferably the differential gears are formed from plastic mouldings as described in Specification 922,004.
