In a tentering machine the take-in members are adjustable by a device comprising at least two gear-wheels 9, 11 coupled together and provided between a motor 5 on the warp guide rail 1 on which the pin-blocks or clips 2 slide and a toothed bar 12 secured to the machine frame, the gears 9, 11 being rotatably mounted on a lever 13 mounted to pivot about the motor shaft 6 and a spring 14 being provided to hold the lever 13 and therefore the gear 11 in engagement with the toothed bar 12. The gears 9, 11 are coupled together either by a third gear 10 or by an endless belt, not shown. The toothed bar 12 is secured to a rail 8 on which the rail 1 is movably mounted by rollers 7 so that rotation of the shaft 6 causes the guide rail 1 to pivot about an axis 3.
