916,700. Golf-practising appliances. CAMPBELL, J. Nov. 13, 1961 [Nov. 23, 1960], No. 40237/60. Class 132 (2). A device for use in controlling wrist movement when practising golf strokes comprises two members 10, 11 hinged together and provided with straps 13, 14 for attachment to the hand and wrist respectively. The member 10 has fixed thereto a bracket 18 carrying a roller 19 at its free end, whilst the member 11 supports a weight 16 slidable in guides 17 and integral with a pin 15. As the wrist is cocked during the upward swing of the stroke, the member 10 pivots relative to the member 11, against the action of spring 22, thereby swing- ing the roller 19 downwardly, and the weight 16 slides in the guides 17 until the roller 19 is trapped under the pin 15, movement of the pin being controlled by a guide roller 20 mounted on the member 11. A tongue 23 on member 10 engages in a recess in the underside of the weight 16 when the device is in its uncocked position, to prevent movement of the weight before the wrist is fully cocked. The device remains locked in its cocked position until the club approaches the foot of its swing, when the weight 16 is moved by centrifugal force away from the locked position to permit the wrist to uncock.
