A model human figure which can be manipulated to perform certain functions of a game comprises a fixed part and a part connected to the fixed part for angular movement relative thereto a torsion spring acting between the parts to cause angular movement of said part in one direction and releasable adjustable ratchet means whereby the angular movement of the part in said one direction can be prevented. The figure illustrated is intended for use in playing golf and comprises a base 1 which is integrally formed with the lower torso and legs portion 2 which carries an upwardly inclined spindle 3 upon which is rotatably mounted an upper torso and arms portion 4. At the upper end of the spindle is a fixed head portion 5 which is non-rotatably secured to the upper end of the spindle by means of a screw 6. Acting between the portions 2 and 4 is a torsion blade spring 7 mounted in a recess in the lower part of the portion 4. The spring tends to rotate the part 4 relatively to the part 2 so that the arms execute a swinging movement corresponding to a right hand golfers movement. In the external surface of the lower end of the part 4 are a plurality of notches 8 with any one of which a catch 9 can engage. The catch is mounted on a pivot pin 10 and backed by a coiled compression spring 11 in the lower portion 2, which urges the catch 9 into engagement with the notches whereas pressure on the end of the catch 9 causes the catch to move against the spring 11 and disengage the catch from the notches. The arms of the figure are drilled to detachably receive a club 12. In use, the upper part 4 is rotated against the action of the spring 7 to a position where the catch 9 will engage a selected one of the notches 8. The catch is then pressed against the action of spring 11, permitting the upper torso, arm and club to move angularly and strike the ball. The figure may be modified for playing other games, e.g. football wherein the figure has one angularly movable leg controlled by a spring releasable ratchet mechanism.
