A water-cooled door frame a for an industrial furnace is connected to a parallel container d by a lower pipe k with a valve-controlled offtake h and a valve-controlled upper pipe i. The container d is connected through a gauge glass e with a water-level regulator f controlling a valve in a water supply pipe c, so that the water level in the door frame is preserved constant at a level leaving a steam collecting space above. The steam offtake b has a safety-valve g. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a water/steam separator is disposed above the furnace door, and in a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the depth of the lintel and the width from back to front are increased.
