Abstract
The invention comprises the compound of formula <FORM:0915261/IV (b)/1> and its hydrochloride; and a process for the preparation thereof by reacting p-nitrophenyl ethylene oxide with sec. butylamine in an inert organic solvent, collecting the 1-(p-nitrophenyl)-2-sec. butylamino-1-ethanol, preparing the corresponding hydrochloride and reducing this latter with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the above base or its hydrochloride, and a carrier. Tablets, capsules, syrup and ampoules are mentioned and capsule, injectable and suppository preparations exemplified. They have antiasthmatic activity.
