[Also in Group XXVIII] In a spigot and socket joint wherein at least one tubular element 1, e.g. of glass is enlarged flange-like at 4 and the other element 2 is enlarged at least externally, a connecting clamp has the two legs of one of the semi-circularly recessed clamping jaws offset at their ends 5 so as to prevent the clamp, when tensioned, from moving out laterally. The jaw legs may be ribbed as at 6a, 7a and the jaw 6 may be provided with a collar 11. The clamp may be of metal or plastic.
