[Also in Groups XIII and XXVIII] In apparatus in which cold air from an expansion turbine 7 flows through a pipe 12 and water extractor 14 to an aircraft cabin 15, icing-up of extractor 14 is prevented by providing in pipe 12 a foraminous element 13 of such hole size that any ice formation blocks it, thus causing a rise in the air pressure and temperature at the turbine exhaust, the rise in temperature melting the ice. Air from the tapping 1 of a gas turbine compressor passes through cooler 3, control valve 5 and compressor 8 driven by turbine 7 to a cooler 10 whence it flows to the turbine. Also air for warming the cabin can be fed from tapping 1 direct to pipe 12 through pipe 26 and another passage of valve 5 which can thus supply hot, cold, or mixed air. In flight, the air stream cools exchangers 3, 10, but, on the ground, high-pressure air from tapping 1 flows to ejectors 30 in the exchangers to induce a cooling air stream. Element 13 consists of a fine metallic gauze or a plurality of such gauzes across the air flow passages.
