Abstract

915,051. Hose end fittings. OIL FEED ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Jan. 19, 1959 [Jan. 8, 1958], No. 784/58. Class 99(1). A hose end fitting has a tubular insert 1 engaged into the bore 3 of a hose 4 the end of which is located within a tubular ferrule 8 between which and the insert 1 the hose end is clamped. An internally screwthreaded coupling nut 10 for connecting the fitting to an externally screw-threaded tubular component extends about and snugly embraces the whole of the outer surface of the ferrule 8. As shown, the ferrule 8 is formed with an inturned flange 9 which when the ferrule is swaged to clamp the hose enters a peripheral recess 6 provided in the insert 1 so as to lock the ferrule and the insert together. The ferrule is also provided with a ring corrugation 17 to improve the grip on the hose. The nut 10 is prevented from moving axially relative to the insert by a locking wire 16 engaging complementary recesses in the nut and insert respectively.
