Abstract
The quick action pipe coupling is for pipes with smooth external surfaces and has a cylindrical body (1) with a stepped bore (1a,1b). The bore (1b) receives the end of the pipe (7) whilst the bore (1a) receives a sealing ring (2) which is retained by a screwed bush (3). - The pipe is retained by a fitting (4) with spring claws (4a). This fitting is held in position by the friction of an O-ring (6) which is retained by an end cap (5). The claws are pressed against the pipe by the taper bore of the screwed bush. The pipe can be withdrawn from the coupling by pushing the fitting axially inwards, to allow the claws to move radially outwards.
