Abstract
914,638. Door closers. GASTERSTADT, H. March 16, 1959, No. 8946/59. Classes 65 (1) and 65 (2). A door controlled by a spring door closer which operates through a pair of toggle levers 1, 3 is held at a predetermined angle by means of a pair of plates 5, 9 mounted on the hinge pin 2 of the toggle assembly and non-rotatably engaged with the respective toggle levers, the plates being pressed into contact with one another by spring means 12, and one of the plates having rollers 7 mounted on radial pivots 8 so as to roll on the surface of the other plate and engage in recesses 11 therein when the predetermined angle is reached. The plates may be integral with the levers or may be formed with notches 6, 10 which fit the ends of the respective levers so that the plates may be used with an existing assembly. One of the plates may be divided horizontally into upper and lower members 15, 16 (Fig. 7), having interengaging radial teeth 17 so that the predetermined angle may be adjusted by relatively rotating the members. The spiral spring 12 may be replaced by one or more cup springs. The hinge pin 2 may be extended at 4 if required.
