Abstract

914,472. Hair-waving appliances. BRENNALBEBTONI, G. March 13, 1961 [March 14, 1960; Sept. 21, 1960], No. 9057/61. Class 131. Flexible bristles 2 secured to a curler body 1, on which hair is coiled, are arranged in pairs with the free ends of each pair curved towards each other to grip the hair. As shown in Fig. 3, loops 3 of nylon &c. thread are formed in lines in a fabric 5 and the fabric is treated by heat or chemicals to render their shape permanent. The tops of some of the loops are cut at 4 and the fabric wrapped round the hollow cylindrical body and secured by sewing, gluing, welding, &c. In modifications, the fabric is arranged as a longitudinal strip to engage the coiled hair and a ring at each end of the body to retain the curler in a position of use by engaging hair close to the scalp, or the fabric has a zig-zag arrangement of self-loops formed in the wearing process and is helically wrapped on a body of plastic foam. In a further modification the curler is formed as a plastic moulding the body and bristles being integral.
