Abstract

1,065,254. Hair curlers. C. R. CHAMBERLIN. July 6, 1965, No. 28558/65. Heading A4V. A. hair curler comprises a cylindrical body of semi-rigid synthetic plastics mesh surrounded by a porous fabric sleeve formed wholly or partly of synthetic plastics, crossed pairs of bristles with hooked ends extending radially outwardly from the sleeve to retain hair wound on the curler. The ends of the body project beyond the sleeve and have notches to secure an elastic retaining member for long hair wound in overlapping coils. The sleeve is formed by stitching opposed edges of a strip of material wrapped round the curler and may consist of woven textile threads impregnated with synthetic resinous material. The bristles may consist of plastic threads stitched in spaced rows to the sleeve and more numerous near the ends of the curler, the bristles being pressed down by,the fingers to effect clamping.
