Abstract
913,536. Electromagnetically-operated twin horns. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. May 16, 1961 [May 31, 1960], No. 19182/60. Addition to 872,212. Class 118. The control arrangement of the parent Specification wherein an electromagnet controls a two-way switch which passes current alternately to two horns, and is in turn controlled by an intermittently-operated further switch, is modified by controlling the further switch electromagnetically or by means of a cam on a rotary member of the road vehicle. Operation of push-button 3 energizes relay 4 (contacts 6a, 6b) and horn 13 thus operates. Prolonged operation of button 3 allows capacitor 10 to charge up so that eventually a relay comprising coils 8, 9 and capacitor 10 is energized. At its contacts 7a, 7c, this relay closes a circuit for relay 11 which in operating completes at contacts 12a, 12c a circuit for horn 14. Alternate operation of horns 13, 14 is obtained since relay 8, 9, 10 releases shortly after its actuation due to the discharge of capacitor 10. Alternatively, relay 8, 9, 10 may be replaced by a cam-actuated switch, the cam being driven by a rotating member of the road vehicle.
