Abstract

676,826. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. SWF-SPEZIALFABRIK FUR AUTOZUBEHOR G. RAU GES. March 16, 1950. [May 18, 1949] No. 6645/50. Class 118 (ii). A direction signalling system for vehicles of the type wherein lights 12 or 13 on the side to which a turn is to be made are flashed by contacts 6 or 7, respectively, controlled by cams 8, 9, driven by an electric motor 5 is operated by a single pole two-way switch 2. When switch 2 is moved from its central neutral position to the selected side, connecting battery 1 to contact 3 or 4, a relay winding 17 or 18, respectively, is energized and attracts the common armature 16 which closes contacts 15 to start the electric motor 5 rotating cams 8 and 9, thereby flashing the lamps on the selected side of the vehicle. An indicator lamp 14 is connected between the two sets of signal lamps and is of sufficient resistance to light when either set of lamps is operated without causing the undesired lamps to light.
