Abstract

912,718. Filing cabinets. ZIPPEL, G. A. April 11, 1960 [April 10, 1959], No. 12860/60. Class 146 (1). A filing cabinet wherein document carriers 5 are secured between a pair of endless chains 2, is characterized in that the path of each chain is of substantially triangular form in which the side 1 adjacent the back of the cabinet is vertical and the second side 2 is longer than and lies above, the third side 3, the second side being accessible through an opening 13 in the front of the cabinet. The carriers are stabilized during motion by rollers 12, 12a on at least one side wall of each carrier engaging guide tracks 10 in the side walls of the cabinet. The carriers are provided with hingeable front walls 6 held in their closed positions by catches. A closing device is attached to the inside of the cabinet to return a front wall to its closed position, if said front wall is left open and the conveyer chains set in motion. A door 14 provided to close the opening 13, serves as a table when open. Alternatively, the opening extends practically the entire height of the cabinet and is closed by a roller blind. One pair of coaxial sprocket wheels 4 are adjustable to regulate the tension in the chains, the latter being rotated by an electric motor.
