Abstract
912,680. Threading-up textile machines. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., ERNEST. Sept. 29, 1961 [Dec. 6, 1960], No. 41954/60. Class 120 (2). A textile machine comprising means to deliver yarn at a predetermined speed and take-up means, is provided with a tube 21 connected to a source of suction and of which the end can be moved between the delivery and take-up means; accordingly the yarn can be drawn into the tube until it is satisfactory and then transferred to the take-up. The device may be applied to a crimping machine where a series of yarns are each drawn over-end from a package 11 by feed-rollers 13 and passed to a heater 14, a false-twister 15 and rollers 16 which deliver it to a take-up package 20. Between rolls 16 and the take-up packages is provided a vacuum line 17 with sockets 17a into one of which the tube is plugged. A handle is moved to make operative the corresponding rollers 13, 16 and twist-tube 15 and the yarn delivered at 16 is passed into the tube to be carried away. When the crimp is observed to be satisfactory, the tube is moved to the takeup, the yarn severed by a device 22, and applied to the take-up by the operator's finger. If two yarns are treated at each crimping station, the tube is applied first to one take-up and then to another when the delivered yarn is satisfactory. A fan on a carriage movable along the machine may replace the vacuum line 17.
