Abstract

911,712. Valves. MEGATOR PUMPS & COMPRESSORS Ltd. April 21, 1961 [June 2, 1960], No. 19595/60, Class 135. A non-return fluid flow control valve comprises a body 1 having a valve seat 5 and a closure member moulded from natural or synthetic rubber or other resilient material and including a closure portion 16 and a number of radially-projecting U-shaped tongues 17 which by virtue of their own inherent resilience maintain the valve on its seat when no fluid is flowing, the tongues being adapted for connection at their ends to a valve mounting member 10. The ends of the tongues 17 are clamped between a plate 15 and a disc-like member 13 integral with the mounting member 10. The tongues may be internally reinforced with a textile or other suitable material and the closure portion may have a metal stiffening member moulded therein. The closure portion may have a conical closure surface and the mounting member may be in the form of a cage.
