Abstract

892,121. Valves. SCHMIDT, F. July 1, 1958 [July 1, 1957], No. 21042/58. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXV] An electromagnetically-operated piston slide valve 2 controlling the flow of fluid between ports 3, 4, 6 is encircled at each end by a resilient ring 7 having a lip pressed against the surface of the piston to produce a frictional force sufficient to hold the valve in its adjusted position, and prevent displacement due to vibration &c. The lips of the rings also divert any leakage along the valve into drainage channels 9. The valve is operated by current pulses fed to solenoids 13 surrounding armatures 12 integral with the slide valve and also formed with integral flanges 11 of an outer diameter equal to that of the magnet casings 14. Valve stroke adjustment may be effected by varying the axial position of the magnet assemblies, which are held in position by set screws 17. The rings 7 are preferably made from plastics material based on a polyester isocyanate combination.
