Abstract
911,163. Transistor oscillator circuits. STONE & CO. (DEPTFORD) Ltd., J. Nov. 10, 1960 [Jan. 13, 1960], No. 1219/60. Class 40 (6). [Also in Group XXXV] In a regulator for controlling the output of an alternator 1 supplying a load 2 over a rectifier 3 and comprising a multivibrator T 1 , T 2 producing rectangular pulses which are applied as switching pulses to a transistor T 4 in series with the field winding 4 of the alternator, the mark/ space ratio of the waveform of the output of the multivibrator is controlled by a further transistor T 3 responsive to a control signal derived from a circuit including a resistor 12 and Zener diodes 11. If the alternator output rises, an increase in control current from the source 11 to the base of transistor T 3 reduces the width of the " on " pulses appearing between the base and emitter of transistor T 4 whereby the average field current is reduced and the output voltage returns to normal.
