Abstract

1,234,503. Voltage regulators. FISHER RADIO CORP. Feb. 18, 1969 [Feb. 19, 1968], No.8844/69. Heading G3X. A voltage regulator circuit comprises output terminals 12, 14, shunted by a Zener diode 18, having a positive temperature co-efficient, in series with a resistor 20 which has a negative temperature co-efficient. When the temperature changes, the variations in voltage across the respective elements 18, 20, cancel each other so that the potential across terminals 12, 14, remains constant. The series circuit 17 receives constant current from source 30 through a network 24. The base potential of transistor 44 is maintained at a constant level by the circuit 17, whereby the voltage-drop resistor 48 is kept constant. As a result, the current flowing through a transistor 34 to the terminal 12 is maintained at a steady value. If the terminals 12, 14, are short-circuited, the transistors 44, 34, are cut off.
