Abstract

910,606. Hinges and pivots. HUNTER, R., STANLEY, S. W., and FIELDING, H. Sept. 22, 1960 [June 24, 1959], No. 21618/59. Class 65 (2). [Also in Group XXX] In a stillage or pallet of the kind in which one or more of the sides are foldable on to the base and at least one of the foldable sides 11 is provided with legs 13 pivotally and slidably engaged with corresponding legs 1 of the base, the lower end of each leg 13 fits into a socket 5 in the lower part of the corresponding base leg 1 to lock the associated side in the raised position. The socket is preferably of box form, the leg 1 being made by welding together two unequal lengths 7, 9 of angle iron, and the leg 13 may be of complementary form, a pin-and-slot connection 15, 16 being provided between them. A cranked lug 17 (not shown) for engaging the upper edge of the upstanding portion 6 of the base leg 1 may be provided on the upright 14 of the side 11 for further rigidity. Cranked strips 22 may be provided on the legs 1 to form slots for engagement by pivot pins on the alternate sides of the stillage or pallet so that these may also fold on to the base.
