910,324. Nickel-plating baths. METAL & THERMIT CORPORATION. Aug. 25, 1960, No. 29415/60. Class 41. Nickel-plating baths are improved by adding as secondary brightening agent, sulphonated dibenzo-thiophene dioxide. More than one So 3 H group may be present, and may be in the form of a salt of an alkali metal or ammonia, Ni, Co, or Mg. As primary brightening agents these may be used, 2-butene 1 : 4-diol, N-vinyl- 2-pyrrolidone, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole, propargyl alcohol, triaminotriphenylmethane, 6- mercaptopurine ethenyl cyclohexanol, 5-sulphanilyl indazole and 2-(2-quinolylmethyl) isoquinolinium iodide. Wetting agents, e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate may be added.
