Abstract

890,528. Nickel plating baths. CANNING & CO. Ltd., W. Sept. 21, 1960 [Sept. 28, 1959], No. 32840/59. Class 41. Nickel plating baths are improved by adding 2-amino-thiazole in the form of the base or a water-soluble salt, e.g. the hydrochloride. Derivatives may also be used, e.g. the corresponding nitro- or methyl-thiazole, 2-acetamido- 5-nitro thiazole and 2-amino-benzene sulphonamido thiazole. Optional additions include sulphonic acids, e.g. unsaturated aliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic sulphonic acids, sulphonamides or -imides, or their salts of Na, Co, Mg or Ni; wetting agents, and alkali metal salts to increase the conductivity of the bath.
