Abstract

910,160. Suspended ceilings. WALKER, M. Dec. 16, 1959 [Dec. 16, 1958], No. 40525/58. Class 20 (4). In a false ceiling, panels or sheets 12, Fig. 1, which may be of moulded or extruded plastic or of light-weight metal, are supported from two opposite walls by U-sectioned light-weight wall brackets 10 extending the length of the wall and attached thereto by one limb, the other limb presenting a seating, e.g. comprising recesses 11, for the ends of the panels 12. The room may be spanned by a series of panels arranged end-to-end and the intermediate ends of the panels supported from the lower flanges of I-sectioned beams 16, Fig. 2, which eng age brackets 17 on the other two opposite walls 18. The beams 16 may be formed in sections joined by fishplates 21 provided with eyebolts 22 for engagement by tensioning wires 23 secured to the walls which prevent the beams from sagging. The panels may be provided with edges grooved to receive the lower flanges of the beams 16, Fig. 5 (not shown). In the exemplified embodiments brackets 10a, Fig. 2, are secured to the other pair of opposite walls.
