Abstract

910,018. Creels. KEYSER, J. J. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 31441/60. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (2). A textile creel for bobbins (including packages which may be in cans) of fibrous material (including one or more yarns, slivers, rovings or laps) comprises a holding-member extending longitudinally of the machine, stationary slide guides carried by the underside of the holder and extending transversely thereof, and carriages each having means for holding one or more bobbins without spindles, and suspended from and slidably mounted on the guides to be movable between an inner working position and an outer servicing position. The holder may be a longitudinal board 4, Fig. 1, resting on members 3 carried by columns 2 ; the holder carries a series of spaced guides 6 in the form of slotted channels and both the carriages may be of the following forms : a simple bar carrying a single bobbin, a C-shaped member with a bobbin depending from each of the upper and lower transverse arms, or carrying one bobbin between upper and lower supports 33, 35 as shown to the left of Fig. 1; an E-shaped member carrying three dependent bobbins or two between upper and lower supports ; a T-shaped member carrying two dependent bobbins or a double-T-member carrying two upper dependent bobbins and one or two lower ones, or two bobbins between upper and lower supports as shown. In the case of T, E or C members, the height of the carrier may be adjustable ; to this end the longitudinal arm has apertures through which may be passed where desired, by projections 38, Fig. 12, of members 36<SP>1</SP>, 36<SP>11</SP> for guiding the thread &c each of which is formed alternately with projections 38 and recesses 39, the recesses of one member accommodating the projections of the other. The guides 6 may be formed by nesting channel members which can be extended telescopically or by L-members stamped out to depend from the member 4 which in this case is a metal sheet ; the distance between the stampings may be a fraction of the normal spindle-spacings. When the package is arranged in a can, the carriage may be C-shaped, Fig. 14 (not shown), with an upper holder adjustably mounted on the longitudinal arm of the C and depending over the edge of the can and the lower arm of the C bent upwardly to engage a recess in the base of the can. In another form, Fig. 15 (not shown), each package may be carried on a tray as at 56, Fig. 16, for which the lower arm of the C forms a pivotal mounting as at 49 ; a number of such arrangements may be put together as in Fig. 16, the arms 53, 54, 55 being rotatably mounted on a common arm 52.
