908,858. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. BUCK, J. W. June 27, 1961 [June 28, 1960], No. 23305/61. Class 106 (5). A liquid measuring and dispensing device comprises a hollow rotary plug cock-type dispensing valve 3 having an oblique partition dividing the valve into at least two chambers connected by an inlet port 15 and a discharge port 14 with at least two calibrated measuring vessels 10, 10a, and displaceable elements 11 dividing the vessels into inner and outer chambers, whereby, when one vessel is in an upright filling position, its element displaces fluid from its outer chamber through a fluid transfer conduit 12 to the outer chamber of the other vessel which is in an inverted discharging position to act on the element of that vessel and assist in the discharging of liquid therefrom. The valve 3 is connected to a supply duct 2 and a spout 6, the spout and a casing 5 being held on the valve by a stud 7. The casing is rotatable on the valve and provided with passages 13, 16 leading to the vessels 10, 10a. In the position shown, liquid from the duct 2 passes through the port 15 and passage 16 into the inner chamber of the vessel 10a, the displaceable element 11, which may be a piston or diaphragm, moving fluid, such as air or liquid, from the outer chamber through the conduit 12 to the outer chamber of the vessel 10, the pressure of the fluid acting on the element 11 of the vessel 10 to assist in discharging liquid through the spout 6. When the vessel 10a is full and the vessel 10 is empty, the casing is rotated by handles 17 to reverse the position of the vessels. Specification 899,894 is referred to.
