Abstract

Chlorophosphorylated stereoregular polypropylene in which the phosphorus content is below 0,2% by weight of the polymer, is made by contacting a stereoregular polypropylene with phosphorus trichloride and oxygen, and terminating the reaction when the desired phosphorus content in the polymer has been obtained. The chlorophosphorylated polymer may be hydrolysed, alcoholysed or aminolysed, either prior to, or after forming into shaped articles such as filaments, fibres, and films. The after-treated polymers are more receptive to dyeing. Specification 810,023 is referred to.
