Abstract
905,967. Aerials. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Sept. 12, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 31306/60. Class 40 (7). An aerial comprises a helical conductor WL, embedded in dielectric FG, and a matching unit. Fig. 3 is a section along AB of Fig. 1. The helical conductor is connected to one end 3 of an arcuate strip 2 which forms the inner conductor of the matching unit. The other end of the strip is connected at 6 to the base-plate 1<SP>1</SP> which, with a cover 1, forms the outer conductor of the matching unit. The inner conductor of a coaxial feeder is connected to the strip 2 at 5, this position being chosen in accordance with the matching conditions required. Lightning protection is provided, by a conductive connection between the helix WL and a reflector R, which is at earth potential. However, instead of being earthed the reflector may act as a counterpoise.
