[Also in Group XXXV] A sequence of switching operations, as required on, say, a machine tool, is performed by a stationary commutator a, segments of which are connected to multi-contact selector switches g, h which determine the operating time for each operation. A brush or roller d driven in synchronism with the machine, and in contact with the commutator a and slip-ring b sweeps the segments in turn. On contacting a segment corresponding to the position of switch wipers j-l one of relays D, C, B is energized, which relays are self-holding over one of their own contacts D<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>. The switches g, h may be arranged with their operating spindles coaxial and the wipers k, l may be displaced at any angle. Specification 844,848 is referred to.
