905,461. Clamps. SCHWARZBERGER, A. April 12, 1960, No. 13013/60. Class 44. A clamp for holding textile material taut in a frame comprises a support 17, Figs. 2, 3, from which extend a stationary jaw 13 and a movable jaw 14, the latter being resiliently and pivotally mounted at the upper end of the support by a cross-pin 30 carried by the jaw engaging, against the action of a spring 32, Fig. 3, slots17a in the support. Webs 12a of the jaw 13 mount a shaft 19 fixedly carrying a disc 25 having means 27b for pivotally connecting thereto the lower ends of link members 27 which are pivotally connected at their upper ends to a web 14a depending from the jaw 14. The link members 27 are curved such that clockwise rotation of the shaft 19 by actuation of an attached handle 21 from the " open clamp " position shown in Fig. 3 causes the link pivot means 27b to pass over a dead-centre position defined by the line joining the axes of the crosspin 30 and the shaft 19 to thus hold the jaws in a clamped position until positively released by anti-clockwise movement of the handle 21.
