Abstract
843,142. Embroidery frames. NEALE, P. E. Aug. 21, 1958 [Aug. 28, 1957], No. 27111/57. Class 112 A work-holder for embroidery or the like comprises two elongated members adapted to be temporarily attached at spaced parallel portions across the width of the work fabric so as to define between them a work area, one member being adapted to accumulate and hold the areas previously worked, and the members being connected together by means which allow one member to be moved relatively to the other member so as to bring into view either the upper or the lower face of the work area, and which also allow said area to be held taut at all points in its width at any position of said movable member. As shown, the work-holder comprises a stationary member a and a movable member b. Member a comprises rectangular plates 10, 11 between which the work fabric is clamped by means of U-bolts and domed nuts 14a. Member b is in the form of a roller around which the worked fabric may be progressively wrapped, and which is rotatable in arms 18 hinged at 16 to member a. The fabric may be held on member b by C-shaped spring clips of different sizes to accommodate increases in the diameter of the rolled-on fabric. The connection between members a and b may alternatively be flexible.
