878,682. Suspended ceilings. JORGENSEN, O. A. June 15, 1959, No. 20440/59. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXV] An adjustable suspension for ceiling panellings comprises a carrying rail 3 which is mounted by a plurality of suspension devices and comprising an upper strap portion 7 adapted to be secured to a ceiling and a lower strap portion 8 secured to the rail, the lower and upper ends respectively of said strap portions in their operative position, overlapping each other and being clamped together by means of a toggle clamp, the lower of which is journalled in one of the strap portions. As shown both strap portions are made of strip material. The lower strap portion 8 is fixed to the rail 3 by means of a screw 9 and nut 10. The strap portion 8 is provided at its upper end with a pair of opposed side flanges 12 which guide the upper strap portion 7 and which are provided with apertures 13 to engage ears 14 on the toggle clamp lever. The clamp lever has a short arm 15 to engage the strap portion 7 and a long arm 16 which in the clamping position rests against the edges of the flanges 12. The panelling 1 is attached to the rail 3 by engaging a series of hooks 5 by means of a lateral flange 2. In a modification for use with a tubular rail 3, wire is substituted for strip material in the portion 8 and the end of the arm 15 has a recess to receive the upper portion of the wire.
