Abstract

904,358. Mowing machines. FRUIT PRODUCTION & STORAGE (LINGFIELD) Ltd., and ASTON, W. S. Dec. 30, 1959 [April 14, 1959], No. 12542/59. Class 6(3). An endless-belt mowing machine attachable to a tractor 4 comprises a flexible rubber V-belt 7 mounted on pulleys 1, 2 and provided with teeth 8 which project from the outer belt-surface. the teeth being attached to the belt by members 15 which are seated in recesses 9 in at least one of the pulley-engaging surfaces of the belt, the seating permitting travel of the belt around the pulleys without obstruction by the attachment members. The teeth have horizontal sharpened edges 12 and upturned rear edges 20 to deflect cutgrass upwardly. As shown in Fig. 3, the attachment members each comprise a U- shaped lug which is bent around the belt so that the top portion enters the recess 9 and the free end 16 enters a recess 18 in the opposite side of the belt. Bolts 19 may secure the assembly together. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) each attachment lug passes around both pulley-engaging faces of the belt, which is therefore recessed on both faces. The belt is driven from the tractor through a gearbox 6 and a conveyer-belt 21 may be provided for diverting cuttings.
