973,872. Lawn-mowers. G. L. WALLIS. Aug. 29, 1961 [Aug. 29, 1960], No. 29711/60. Heading A1F. The cutting cylinder 5 of a lawn mower is supported obliquely to the direction of travel in bearings 2a, 3a on the side frames 2 and 3 of the machine and co-acts with a stationary cutter bar 6 mounted so that it can be displaced around the circumference of the rearwardly facing part of the cutting cylinder to enable a longer or shorter cut to be obtained. The cylinder is driven from the rear roller 1 through gears 11-14 or is power driven. The frame 2 may carry a roller 9 disposed to one side of the leading end 5a of the cutting cylinder so as not to flatten grass about to be cut. In a modification two cutting cylinders arranged so that they define a V in plan view are provided, the apex of the V being directed rearwardly of the machine.
