Abstract

903,635. Protective arrangements. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. July 24, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 25502/59. Class 38 (5). In a D.C. machine shorted turns in the armature are detected by voltage pulsation in one of the stator windings, the pulsation being isolated by a low-pass filter and fed to indicator or relay. As described, the pulsations due to shorted armature turns are at pole frequency, i.e. four times the rotational frequency for a fourpole machine. The slot frequency pulsations are removed by means of low-pass filters 6, 7, or 8 which may be connected to the compensating winding 2 or to the commutating pole winding 3 or to an additional winding 4. The low-pass filter is connected to a relay which provides optical or acoustic indication or disconnects the faulty machine from the supply.
