903,388. Fireproofing. OSUUSKUNTA METSALLIITTO. Aug. 30, 1958, No. 27918/58. Class 140. Fireproof wall and like boards are produced by treating cellulosic materials, such as wood shavings, wood fibres or straw, with a single aqueous solution of a fireproofing composition, free from minerals such as asbestos, kieselguhr, vermiculite or pounded glass or slag wool, and thereafter treating with an adhesive composition and working the material into boards. The fireproofing materials used include borax, zinc borate, ammonium or sodium hydrogen phosphates, chlorinated paraffins, amino acetic acid, and a formaldehyde-triammonium phosphate condensate; they may additionally contain a material which becomes vitreous at high temperatures such as an alkali silicate. The adhesive may be an animal or synthetic glue. Fireproofing compositions specified are aqueous solutions of: (i) zinc borate, ammonium monohydrogen phosphate and chlorinated paraffin in aqueous emulsion, (ii) paraformaldehyde, ammonium monohydrogen phosphate, ammonium chloride, ammonium hydroxide solution, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, borax and paraformaldehyde-triammonium phosphate, (iii) zinc borate, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, paraformaldehyde and methylene-disalicylic acid.
