Abstract
A composition for removing corrosion products from metals such as steel and aluminium comprises (1) one or a mixture of sulphamic acid, salts thereof, imidosulphonic acid and salts thereof, (2) acetic acid and/or formic acid (3) polyvinyl alcohol, (4) a gelling agent which is a silica or a cellulosic material, and (5) water, the constituents (1) and (2) being present in equimolecular proportions \sB 25 per cent and the constituents (3), (4) and (5) being present in such proportions that the composition is a paste or jelly. A small proportion of a wetting agent such as sodium lauryl sulphate may be added. The gelling agent is preferably silica aerosol or cotton linters.
