Abstract
A granulated fertiliser consists solely of ground basic slag in which case the grain size is between 0,55 and 0,5 mm, or comprises ground basic slag and other constituents in which case the grain size is between 0,35 and 2,5 mms, the granulation having been effected by introducing the fine grained material into a fluidised bed chamber which is devoid of a grating and into which is blown from below a stream of hot gas which expands the solids into a freely floating fluidised layer. The liquid binder which may be water may be added to the solids outside the granulating chamber or sprayed into the granulating chamber independently of the introduction of the solids. The hot gases may be at a temperature of at least 600 DEG C and preferably 800 DEG C. Potassium salts may also be present. The optimum grain size is 0,8 to 1,0 mm for basic slag alone and 1 to 1,5 mm for the mixed fertiliser.ALSO:A granulated fertiliser consists of ground basic slag having a grain size between 0,15 and 1,5 mms., preferably 0,8 to 1,0 mms. Granulation may be effected by introducing the fine grained material into a fluidised bed chamber which is devoid of a grating and into which is blown from below a stream of hot gas which expands the solids into a freely floating fluidised layer. The liquid binder which may be water may be added to the solids outside the granulating chamber or sprayed into the chamber independently of the introduction of the solids. The hot gases may be at a temperature of at least 600 DEG C. and preferably 800 DEG C.
