PURPOSE: To prevent solidification of water crushed slag, blast furnace water crushed slag is contacted with CO2 within three days after production.
CONSTITUTION: Blast furnace water slag is contacted with CO2 within three days after its production, preferably immediately after the production. As CO2 gas source, blast furnace exhaust gas which contains about 13% CO2 is useful. Such gas is blown into the water crushed slag cutting hopper to be reacted with the slag separated from water. The sooner the contact, the greater the effect in preventing soldification as shown in the figure. The contact after 4 days is not practical use.
