Abstract

903,235. Roofs and roof lights. CONDER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 11, 1961 [May 11, 1960], No. 16618/60. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4). A pitched roof 28, Fig. 1, comprises purlins 19 parallel with the ridge of the roof and cranked upwardly at intervals, as shown in Fig. 3, by perpendicular limb 22 and upwardly inclined limb 23 joined by intermediate member 24 downwardly sloping to form a frame for a monitor roof light, the frame being perpendicular to the roof, as shown in Fig. 2, and adjacent frames being in alignment transversely of the roof so that the lights are parallel to the roof and opposite sides in an apex and supported by angle-strips secured by cleats to the uppermost purlins (Fig. 7, not shown). Members 24 carry angle purlins 25 which support a roof covering of asbestos sheeting 26 or triple layer of roof felt. Glazing bars 27 are secured to limbs 22, 23 and the glazing may include pivoted windows 30. The gable ends of the roof lights may be perpendicular to the roof or vertical and may be closed by a glazing or other frame. In some cases a peripheral upstand of the general roof surface material may surround each roof light in place of the lead flashings 29.
