Abstract
901,560. Twist tubes; finishing yarns. ALGEMENE KUNGSTZIJDE UNIE N.V. Nov. 21, 1960 [Nov. 21, 1959], No. 39969/60. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). In a false-twisting device as may be used in a yarn-curling process and which comprises a tubular twisting spindle 3 supported for rotation in two or more throats each formed between two freely rotatable circular discs 11 and a belt 8 which both drives the spindle and holds it in the throats, e.g. as described in Specification 831,549, movement of the spindle in the axial direction is prevented by one or more axial air bearings, as at 22. When the spindle 3 is in non-operative position it is prevented from falling by engagement of a collar, step or shoulder 4 with a ring 25 carried on a column 21 mounted on a swingable plate 15. The ring 25 also constitutes an annular air chamber to which, during normal operation of the device, compressed air is supplied from a bore in column 21 through a tube 28 and emerges through bores 27 in a nozzle 26 to impinge on collar 4.
