Abstract
900,301. Control of motors. SCHULER A.G., L. Aug. 14, 1959 [Aug. 23, 1958], No. 27850/59. Class 38 (3). Fine adjustments of the ram of a press are effected by an electric motor to which is coupled an impulse transmitter for measuring the amount of movement of the ram, and an impulse counting device is provided to disconnect the motor after the ram has travelled a predetermined distance. An impulse transmitter 5 has separate contacts for the two directions of travel and transmits one impulse per revolution of a shaft forming part of the motor drive. A counting device 6 indicates the position for the last adjustment of the ram, whilst a differential counting mechanism 7 is manually set for the required further adjustment. Closure of switch 11 energizes relay D1, whereupon actuation of one of the push-buttons 9 energizes relay C1 which completes a self-holding circuit. After the relay C1 has closed, the relay C3. is energized and the motor starts, a contact on the relay C3 opening the circuit to the push-buttons, and a contact. on the relay C1 preventing operation of the reverse relay C2. When the mechanism 7 is counted down to zero, a tripping device G2 opens contacts g2 and relays C1, C3, drop out. The motor has an automatic brake and is stopped immediately upon disconnection of the supply current. Further manual adjustment may be made by opening switch 11 to de-energize the relay D1, so disconnecting the counting mechanism 7. The contacts g2 are closed manually, so that operation of the motor is effected by actuating one of the push-buttons 9 with simultaneous operation of a switch 12.
