Abstract

1,263,170. Arc suppression. MAGRINIFABRICHE RIUNITE, MAGRINI SCARPA E MAGNANO M.S.M. S.p.A. 4 Aug., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 38915/69. Heading H1N. In an electric circuit-breaker comprising a number of main breaker chambers I 1 -I 4 , Fig. 2, at least one chamber I 1 (as shown) has a parallel connected making resistance R with a switch C closed prior to the simultaneous closing of the main chambers I 1 -I 4 . In a particular example the switch C comprises a movable plunger contact 11 engageable with a fixed contact 9 associated with a pile of resistance blocks 5. On actuation of the main shaft 26 for the chambers I 1 -I 4 (not shown) the contact 11 is initially closed by a cam 19 engaging a roller 23 and lifting it to the hatched position (shown). On further movement of the shaft 26 the main contacts close while the roller 23 is held by face f of the cam 19. After full closure of the main contacts the roller 23 is released to open the contacts 11, 9. During re-opening of the main chambers roller 23 moves in slot 22 against the action of spring 24 to permit the cam 19 to return clockwise to the off position.
