Abstract

900,256. Shovelling machines. OSTRAT, M. S., and FURENES, O. April 7, 1961 [April 9, 1960], No. 12660/61. Class 68 (1). [Also in Group I] Means are provided in a tractor-mounted scoop unit to ensure that a screw spreader 23 associated with a scoop 1 is clear of the mouth of the scoop when the scoop is lowered into position for filling. The means comprise a chain 38 secured to a cross-brace of scoopsupporting arms 3 pivotally mounted on a tractor and, after passing about a pulley 39 at the top of a frame 10 rigidly secured to the tractor, to a yoke 40 secured between struts 24 pivoted with the scoop 1 about a common axis 25 between the arms. The length of the chain 38 is such as to arrest downward movement of the arms 24 and spreader 23 as the scoop completes the downward movement to a loading position. From the loading position the scoop is first swung up about axis 25 and then raised by upward swinging of the arms 3 by upward swinging of hydraulically-actuated lift levers 5 mounted on the tractor, the levers acting through links 4 on the arms 3. Initial upward swinging of the arms 3 renders the linkage 7, 8, 15 and 6 pivoted at 9 on frame 10 effective to cause rod 6 to swing scoop 1 upwards. On completion of upward swinging of arms 3, lever 5 is locked and scoop 1 allowed to swing down to a discharge position from which it is subsequently raised by actuating an hydraulic ram 18, 20. The piston-rod 20 of the ram is connected to a frame 21, 22 rigid with the frame 10. On the cylinder 18 of ram 18, 20 are rollers 19 that move freely along the frame 10 and the cylinder 18 is connected by links 16 to the linkage 7, 8, 15. For the scoop to regain the loading position the lever 5 is released and lowered whilst the ram 18, 20 is contracted.
