Abstract

899,706. Press-button retractive switches; indicators for switches. SQUARE D CO. Sept. 22, 1958 [Dec. 16, 1957], No. 30149/58. Class 38 (5). A pilot light is combined with a change-over switch such that manual pressure on the lens 18 operates the switch to energize the lamp for the purpose of testing its condition. A lamp base 12, transformer 16 and switch 14 are clamped together (Fig. 2, not shown) by two screws which pass through hollow rivets 98 in the switch 14 and engage threaded holes in the base 12. Suitable recesses in base 12 and switch 14 locate a transformer 16 such that spring tabs connected to the pilot lamp inside base 12 contact secondary tongues 116 while primary tongues 114 engage spring tabs 66 and 68 in the switch 14. The tab 68 is connected to a terminal (not shown) on the bottom surface of the switch 14 and the tab 66 is connected to a blade spring movable contact co-operating with two fixed contacts each connected to a respective terminal on the bottom surface of switch 14. The movable contact may be changedover against its resilience by pressure on lens 18 which causes depression of a sleeve 22 against a concentric spring (not shown) such that the end 88 of a projecting arm enters an opening 90 in the switch 14. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 877,053.
