Abstract
495,643. Press - button retractive switches. M. & C. SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., and MORRISON, R. May 13, 1937, No. 13477. [Class 38 (v)] An electric push-button switch for use in remote control systems, has two push-members arranged concentrically to provide in operation three different circuit conditions. A pushmember C with a head 3 for manual operation, fits slidably in a sleeve A and carries insulating collars 8 which limit its movement under pressure of a spring 6. Similarly, a second push-member D which slides concentrically through the member C has a head 5, and insulating collars 9 to limit its movement under pressure of a spring 7. Spring contact blades 10, 11, 12 and 13 are secured to the underside of sleeve A, contacts 12 and 13 being normally closed until collars 8 move to press down blade 12 and open them, while the normally open contacts 10 and 11 are closed by the engagement of collars 9 with the blade 11. In the normal position as shown, a small secondary current flows through contacts 12 and 13 sufficient for running conditions after starting has been effected by closure of contacts 10 and 11 to increase the current by cutting out a resistance, while opening of contacts 12 and 13 breaks the circuit to stop the machinery.
